UNGA76 Science Summit

22 September 2021 | summit

NET4Age-Friendly Chair, Carina Dantas, will be a speaker, representing the Action in the UNGA76 Science Summit, organised around the 76th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA76) in New York in September 2021.

On September 24, at 10:00 am CEST, Carina will be speaking in panel CO24 | COST as the European instrument enabling global RTDI collaboration, along with the COST Association Director, a keynote speaker from the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education and three colleagues chairing other ongoing COST Actions.

This participation of NET4Age-Friendly comes in line with the United Nations Open call for good practices, success stories and lessons learned by all stakeholders in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda, where “SHAFE implemented through NET4Age-Friendly” was one of the recognized good practices from the +700 submissions that were reviewed by a team of experts from UN entities.

The COST session will hold a broader discussion on the needs and challenges of global RTDI collaboration and how these could contribute to the realisation of the UN SDGs. The COST Programme, celebrating its 50th birthday in 2021, has a vast experience in establishing and maintaining long-standing and trust-based collaboration among research and innovation partners from the different continents. The objective of the UNGA76 Science Summit is to raise awareness of the role and contribution of science to the attainment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. It will demonstrate initiatives that provide models for global science mechanisms and activities in support of the SDGs, particularly in science infrastructure and capacity building.
