On October 14, Carina Dantas and Willeke van Staalduinen joined a session at the Council of Europe under the theme, "Human rights, ethics, and health: a challenge for our common future," specifically focusing on sustainable and inclusive communities. This event, hosted by the Committee on Inclusive Territories, Environment, and Health, emphasized the intersecting issues of human rights, inclusivity, and sustainable development.

Under the kind invitation of Elena Curtopassi, Carina and Willeke were joined by notable figures such as Maddalena Illario and Oscar Zanutto, creating a dynamic panel to discuss innovative strategies for inclusive and sustainable territories. Carina Dantas presented insights from the NET4Age-Friendly COST Action and the SIRENE project, both of which promote integrated approaches for safe and inclusive environments, aiming to make communities more age-friendly and health-centered.

Maddalena Illario further highlighted the NewEcoSmart strategy for rural regions, illustrating how digital and green training can stimulate regional development.

The panel underscored the essential connection between ethics and inclusivity in fostering communities that support human rights while being adaptable to diverse demographic needs.

The event allowed stakeholders to exchange ideas on the SHAFE approach's impact, laying a foundation for future work within the SHAFE Foundation to further these inclusive and sustainable goals. With this groundwork set, the panel looks forward to advancing these discussions and implementing actionable strategies that support inclusive, health-centric communities across Europe.
