The capital of the European Union will be the epicenter of social innovation and sustainability as it hosts the EU Week for Sustainable and Inclusive Communities: the Future is SHAFE. This event will bring together in Brussels, between October 1st and 3rd, more than 200 participants from all over Europe, ready to explore new frontiers in creating smart, healthy and inclusive environments.
The highlight of the week will be the high-level political event, taking place on October 2nd, at the European Committee of the Regions. On this occasion, the final results of two revolutionary projects committed to a sustainable future will be officially delivered: SIRENE and NET4Age-Friendly. Their results will be presented to members of the European Parliament, policymakers and EU officials, researchers and social actors. Furthermore, the SHAFE Foundation will be officially launched, ensuring the continuity and exploitation of the results of these innovative projects.
SIRENE, funded by the Horizon Europe program, aims to boost social innovation ecosystems that offer green and sustainable community services. By October 2024, SIRENE is developing an investment framework that connects social innovators with industry and academia, with a view to adopting smart living solutions in the housing and ICT sector.
COST Action NET4Age-Friendly, already has more than 700 experts from 50 countries, to establish an international interdisciplinary network of researchers and social actors. The goal? Promote awareness and support the creation of inclusive and healthy environments for current and future generations. NET4Age-Friendly works to overcome fragmentation and fill critical gaps in innovation, aligning with Europe’s future policy requirements.
The SHAFE Foundation will be the legacy of these projects, dedicated to promoting smart, healthy and inclusive environments. The Foundation will work tirelessly to ensure that the advances made are widely adopted and benefit communities across Europe.
This is an event not to be missed due to its characteristics. It will be possible to establish high-level networking, through contact with political decision-makers, renowned researchers, industry and third sector leaders. It is also an opportunity to experience live innovation, discovering the latest trends in smart, sustainable environments, ready to transform communities across Europe.
