Description:
A list of commercial and research accessibility services and products enabling access to communication, computers and digital devices. It brings together information from 12 different databases in Europe, the US and Australia.
Overview:
The Unified Listing is an international listing of products for making communication, computers and digital devices more accessible. It brings together information on information and communication technologies (ICT) access from 12 different databases in Europe, the US and Australia. It also provides four different searching techniques from guided searches to power searching to make it easier for people with all levels of knowledge and search skill to find products that might help them.
Objectives:
The Unified Listing has several unique features that help manufacturers. The Unified Listing automatically feeds all of its federated databases from around the world with any new information that it finds or receives. Manufacturers can therefore update the information in one place (the Unified Listing) and it will automatically be sent to all of the federated databases as well. Users of the Unified Listing (consumers and manufacturers) can ask to be alerted by email if any new information on products from any category, manufacturer, or search be automatically sent to them. Thus, any time a manufacturer has a new product included in the Unified Listing, any Unified Listing users who are interested in that category of product can automatically have an email sent to them -- without them having to return and re-search the database. There is also a feature that allows manufacturers to be automatically notified of any major changes to the listing of their products in the Unified Listing.
