In May 2024, the COST Action NET4Age-Friendly saw its joint work published as a follow-up to the session they held at ICAUD2021 - The 4th International Conference on Architecture and Urban Design.
In 2021, this group, and the entire world, were reflecting on the theme of the New Normality, which was caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
This global event that affected the world implied some huge reflections in many of the design fields, forcing architects and engineers, urban planners, and designers to rethink much of the consolidated knowledge in designing approaches. Some of those changes were temporary and reverted in a short time; meanwhile, others seem to have become permanent and able to challenge our personal and social mindset, both as designers and as end-users. Those changes stress the importance of a rising transdisciplinary interaction among diverse fields of knowledge, which has affected the whole realm of people's real-life experiences at a global scale - the perfect context for SHAFE, implemented through NET4Age-Friendly.
