On September 6, Willeke Van Staalduinen, Vice Chair of the NET4Age-Friendly, presented the work of our COST Action at the PAAR-NET (Participatory Approaches Older Adults) Knowledge Exchange, held at Goethe University in Frankfurt.
In her presentation, Van Staalduinen discussed the monitoring of perceived age-friendliness in The Hague, a key initiative aimed at fostering environments that support ageing populations. She emphasized the importance of creating inclusive communities and highlighted the need for continuous improvements in urban planning to meet the evolving needs of older adults.
The presentation sparked dynamic discussions on how cities can adopt innovative and collaborative strategies to become more age-friendly. Willeke Van Staalduinen expressed her enthusiasm about the event, describing it as an excellent platform for exchanging ideas with researchers and co-creators, including older adults, who are actively shaping age-friendly policies.
NET4Age-Friendly, a European Union-funded initiative through the COST Programme, is focused on promoting age-friendly environments through innovative solutions that enhance the quality of life of people at all ages. The event brought together many familiar faces and new collaborators, and Willeke looks forward to continuing the work over the next three years.
