Overview:
Peel Region, Canada, with 14% of its population aged 65 and over, is experiencing a growth in its senior demographic, projected to reach 20% by 2051. To address this shift, Peel Regional Council adopted Regional Official Plan Amendment (ROPA) 27 in 2017, focusing on health, the built environment, and age-friendly planning. The Age-friendly Built Environment Assessment, conducted by Gladki Planning Associates, aims to evaluate neighborhood accessibility for seniors, in line with ROPA 27's policy (6.3.2.4). The assessment helps prepare the region for the changing needs of its aging population.
